Fitness Transformation Tuesday how to lose weight and maintain it!

Dani Stevens - Body transformation after baby number 2

Here is a very old post I found for this weeks Transformation Tuesday. Yes. It's me. I have 4 kids and this picture was taken 6 years ago after having our second son, Oscar.

I believe we are all different and need to be exposed to various exercise program's to try until we find the right ones. I followed the Fit Yummy Mummy program for 5 years and it truly works! Now I'm taking it to the next level with the high intense interval training with Freeletics. You can check that out under my FITNESS tab.

I'm here to share with you what has worked for me so please feel free to check them out.

I hope you enjoy going back down memory lane. Oh how time flies when we are having fun xD

* * *

Yes, I know, I know..... too much eye make up but hey! How often do you get a chance to get all glam'd up and pose for your hubby and be like one of those girls in a magazine??! Now my hubby has his own cover girl :-)

How did I get my body back? 5 years ago I stumbled on this 15 minute workout program. I only workout 90 minutes per week (along with my fun fitness challenges I run with you). This fitness regime suits me perfectly as I am not in a position to pay a baby sitter nor could I be bothered working out for an hour in my day. With 4 kids under 8 years of age my time is pretty jam packed with other important life experiences and things to do, so here are my success stories after ALL of my 4 pregnancies here.

Are YOU getting the results you are after? If you are great! If not and you are seeking an exercise regime that will target and burn your baby body fat, I highly recommend this program. In fact if you click on my link you will receive a 50% discount off the ebook and 30 days free trial at Clubfym. Seriously, you have nothing to lose, except that stubborn fat that is just hanging around.

*TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY features*

I would love to share your fitness transformation on Tuesdays, so please click this link which will take you to our interview questions. I can't wait to feature you!

Stand Up and be RAWESOME

Here we go again. Another month, another brand new challenge. What are your thoughts on this one???

STAND UP AND BE RAWESOME

Fitness

It's all about legs this month as we tone them with various lunge, step ups, side lunges, DB split squat etc....for those that go to the gym you can use the gym equipment there and challenge your routine this month. Try to base it like our push ups routine and allow a day of rest every second day.

For everyone else, here are some other ideas;

Skinny Ms killer leg workout

Rear lunges with or without dumb bells

Dumb bell home leg exercises

Bulgarian split squat

For my male readers wanting more challenges give these workouts a go!

NB: all these hyperlinks have their own workout regime so simply choose which one suits you.

As you are aware, I now follow the Freeletics program which has amazing squat and burpees workouts which get my legs working. I love working out in the comfort of my own home and strongly encourage those that are seeking something new and effective to give Freeletics a go!

Combine Freeletics with Sarah Wilson's I QUIT SUGAR cookbook and you are set to go! Superb recipes to keep you on track and curb those old sugary habits. (especially with the Easter Bunny making a special appearance this month). Or when you have those sweet tooth days check out my post with Nicole Joy and her latest ebook it's perfectly acceptable to eat Dessert for Breakfast, she has amazing no guilt no added sugar treats!

These are tools that have changed my life and that is why I would like to share with you, what has worked for me.

Freeletics Athlete Dani Stevens Mother of 4

Food

You may recall my interview with Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram co founder of Fully Raw last year and I found it so intriguing that someone could just eat plant based foods, raw! No meat, no eggs, no milk. So thought we could give it a go. What do you think?
You in?

1st-30th April 2014

To help us along the way the amazing Kristina has her 21 day challenge mapped out on her site, so go check that out as it is jam packed with shopping list, meal planner, recipes and MUCH MUCH MORE!!!! Preparation is the key and this girl has it nailed everywhere!

There are a couple of reasons why I want to do this. Firstly, Oscar my second (6yo) son is dependant on OsmoLax which assists in the treatment of constipation. Kristina has been able to coach people through migraines, cardiovascular disease, obesity, constipation, diabetes, arthritis, depression and cancer. The list goes on. So really there are three reasons why I want to do this.

Secondly, my mother suffers from chronic arthritis and travels to Serbia every European summer to get some heat into her bones.

Then of course there is the dreaded C word!!! I have had many family members die from cancer, my father thankfully survived prostate but my poor Grandfather endured the most painful death in Serbia and died at home as his prostate cancer spread to his bones and lungs.

I am also encouraging my mother to do this with me whilst she is in Serbia for 6 months this year. My mother is constantly living under the fear of cancer as she has ongoing tumours that need to be tested frequently. The burden of this worry is overwhelming and I truly hope we can make a difference with the food we eat. We can only try?

But it's Autumn? I don't want to eat cold food

I know, I know, some of you are based in the autumn season and it's going to get cold for us. Who wants to eat cold food, right? I was initially going to run this challenge in our summer around Oct/Nov but then that wouldn't be fair to my other readers? So for those of you enjoying the sunny Spring season, you have no excuse but to do this with me! Right? Regardless, I didn't want to make it easy for me (as I always like to take the short cuts) I just decided I wanted to do this now, regardless if it's going to be in the colder months.

LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Am I fully raw prepared? No. Do I think I can do it? Yes. Maybe I'll fail but I hope to be at least 80% raw. All I know is that I will try my hardest. I am constantly researching and will share all the things I come across. Likewise those of you that are already on this raw journey, please assist us as we embark on this new lifestyle. Everyone is different, some of you will be hardcore like me, others want to try it as much as they can and for everyone else...I just really want you to at least try one dish that is raw daily.

30 days fully raw challenge

Level 1 100% we go exclusively raw

Level 2 If you can't live without certain foods example: milk, yogurt, eggs, fish etc...you can allow this and ensure the rest of your food is fully raw

Level 3 Have at least 1 serve of raw food daily eg: apple, raw almonds, salad etc...

Kristina is a fabulous resource and has everything covered at her Fully Raw website and will be our support coach over the next 30 days.

She believes to be FullyRaw is to live a lifestyle that includes eating a diet composed of 100% organic fruits & vegetables, nuts, and seeds in their natural and uncooked states.

To feel Raw is to feel 100% confident, happy, and pure in your skin. Many who are trying to live healthfully on a raw foods diet often struggle because they have no guidance, knowledge, or support. Many fall off the wagon of health and wonder why they cannot stabilize their eating habits or find balance in food choices. Everyone comes from a different place in his or her life, and we all need hand holding and personalized attention to bring us to our next elevation.

To live as FullyRaw is to be dedicated to respecting and honoring your body as a temple where only 100% of the purest food enters within it.

Imagine the day where you find complete confidence in your body, your choices, and in your life. Envision health, clarity, health, freedom, and self-love. When we are invigorated and inspired, we are living Rawfully happy. When we are FullyRaw, we change the world.

If you have any questions check them HERE first. I know this will be a new way of living for most of us. I too will be learning each day and will rely on others to help me answer your questions, if I haven't already researched it.

What does it mean to be fully raw?

Here are some sensational FAQ's on Fully Raw and our 80/10/10;

80% comes from Carbohydrates = FRUIT
10% comes from fat = NUTS AND SEEDS
10% comes from protein = GREENS AND VEGGIES AND FRUIT

2 lbs of leafy greens has more protein than steak!

Steak = 25 g of protein, 40% is absorbed b/c it's animal based
2 lbs of leafy greens, 60-70g of protein!!!! 99.9% absorbed into your bloodsteam = plant based!
2000 calorie diet, 80/10/10 = 1600 calories from fruit, 200 calories from fat, 200 calories from protein (greens)
16 bananas (100 calories per banana), 2 heads of greens, very small handful of nuts or seeds

So what can we expect to eat in a day?

Kristina says the number #1 reason people fail eating raw long term = THEY DO NOT CONSUME ENOUGH CALORIES. Check out what she eats in one day below....

Another great resource for us will be www.cronometer.com so go there and register for free and get some menu ideas and your daily calorie intake per fitness level etc..... I will also post what I am eating over the next 30 days.

Make sure you subscribe to Kristina's YouTube channel as she has some amazing dishes, so we won't miss our "once upon a time" non raw foods. Here's her Alfredo cauliflower cheese pasta!

Facebook

I have set up a group on Facebook under Fitness Food And Style Challenges so we can help one another over there as well. What suits you best? Having discussions here on my blog, Facebook, Instagram or all of the above?

This HUROM juicer baby will be my best friend over the next 30 days. If you need a new juicer check them online or ebay!

So who's with me? Let's make this a RAWESOME month!!!

Feb fast 28 day detox challenge

How's everyone going with our Febfast challenge? Don't ask me why but I thought I would do the trifecta and go without added "refined" sugar, coffee and alcohol this month. How am I going? So far so good. Besides the dull headaches for a few days, I haven't had many cravings.
Day 10 and still going strong.

Thank you to our amazing FFS team members that have joined thus far. If you haven't had a chance to register for our Fitness Food And Style team challenge this month, it's never too late to detox your body and soul. Click here, support an amazing cause and lets get started.

So why do we need to detox & what happens?

I have been told by health practitioners that we need to eliminate waste or toxic materials out of our body. In return we get a toxin-free body which may lead to good health. We all want to be healthy right?

Our body goes through a process which removes toxin or waste materials out of our body through use of natural methods i.e: detoxification. There are so many kinds of chemicals that get deposited into the fat cells of our body through ingestion of food and water, and simply breathing the air around us. With peoples busy lifestyles these days and so called high cost of healthy living, people tend to buy and eat food with low or lacking with nutrient content. Or the classic pre made and processed foods.

What are we actually wanting to detox?

Anything that enters through our body externally let it be pollution, smoking, drugs, processed foods, additives or preservatives the list is endless. This impairs our immune function, hormone imbalance and we become nutritionally deficient and get a low metabolism. Some people refer this to "body burden" which may also cause chronic muscle pain, indigestion and bad breath.

Benefits of detoxing?

There are so many different detox diets out there. When I started on my clean eating journey 6 years ago, I stumbled across The Elimination Diet by Dax Moy which really allowed me to;

- Listen to my body with the particular foods I was eating
- It cleaned my body system
- Improved my digestion
- I had clear and clean skin
- It kept me super focused
- Not to mention the buzz and energy it gave me

Some people also get rid of their muscle aches and pains, lowered immunity, dull skin, fatigue and here's a winner, weight gain.

Who can detox?

Anyone that consults with a health professional as it's not for everyone. Women who are pregnant, mothers that are breastfeeding and children should not go on a detox diet. Anyone with a eating disorder, anaemia, diabetes, thyroid disease, autoimmune disease, cancer are not recommended to go on any detox program.

What foods can I eat?

Loads of fruit and vegetables and foods that are not processed. These foods are high in fibre and rich in vitamins, which exterminate the environment toxins that get transferred into the body. Typically during a detox diet you would normally eliminate any kind of meat, fish, alcohol or stimulant drinks such as coffee. Of course once you finish your detox diet, you may slowly incorporate your meats and make sure you continue to have heaps and heaps of fruit and vegetables!

Have you ever been on a detox diet? What was your experience and how did it make you feel?

Much love & friendship,
XxDani

Monday Menu

Today was such an amazing day. So much sunshine and fun times. Check out Noah and Oscar's bombtastic jumps!!!

Here's a snap shot of our meals as well.

Breakfast

We started off with a blender full of bananas, blueberries and strawberries

We blitzed these until they were lusciously smooth with our favourite milk!

Oscar loves his special milk bottle ;-)

We popped over to visit some friends and had some raspberry muffins.

Rushed back home and made some tuna Mediterranean salad sandwiches.

Lunch

Our afternoon was spent lazing around the pool and we kinda forgot about our afternoon snack as we were too busy sipping on these amazing berry delicious lemon blossom tea!

Dinner

We had an array of salads and more salads followed by some fruit salad for dessert. I also made some meat and vegetable rissoles which were super tasty!

As you can see my 80/20 fully raw challenge isn't going too bad. It's day 9 and I am trying to eat 80 percent raw and 20 percent dairy & meat for the next 21 days.

How was your day today? What did you get up to?

Much love & friendship,
XxDani

What a year! Here are my 2013 Highlights

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So, it's now time to bid farewell to 2013. What a firecracker of a year it's been for Fitness, Food and Style. How did your year shape up?

Of course, like always, time this year just FLEW by ... seriously how quickly did it go?

Overall, it's been another amazing year and to put it in perspective, you can click on last year's highlights here to know what the starting point of 2013 was ...

With so many wonderful experiences and adventures throughout the year, it's hard to pinpoint favourites but below is a just a quick recap of the Fitness, Food and Style journey throughout the year that's been.

2013 what another great year!

January
The year kicked off with a FFS #planksjan2013 challenge where I encouraged people to plank safely in an appropriate environment (not like the extreme rave a few years ago ... if you remember there were people planking in some very strange places).

Nevertheless, as easy as this move may have looked, it was extremely challenging as planking really challenges and tightens up the core muscles.

Here's my pre and post results.

February
This month the FFS challenge explored the world of no added sugar. I couldn't quite manage the entire IQS program ... however I certainly took baby steps.

This challenge encouraged people to read food labels and focus on reducing the amount of refined sugar consumed on a daily basis ... simply through making better food choices. It's simple to do and checking labels is the first place we can reduce sugars we often forget are so heavily added to the foods we select.

This can then be taken further by eliminating soft drinks and saying no to added sugar in tea and coffee etc ... baby steps, remember! Read more here.

March
Here we stepped up the pace a little and focused on the upper arm and back region with our #pushupsandgreens challenge. Looking at food intake, there was a challenge to focus on adding more and more greens. An entirely suitable way to recognise that St Patricks Day would be coming very soon in March, don't you think ;-)

Photo courtesy of Loni Jane ALEVEN

The 'push up your greens challenge' was encouraging people to do push ups and increase their vegetable serves ... and enjoy them! It was an absolute hit!

Mmmm March .... Oh yeah I also celebrated my 39th birthday ;-)

April
In April I wanted to maintain momentum for more mindful eating and to continue the education on nutrition, I thought what better way was there than to continue the greens challenge with an added twist? The challenge was on to experiment with a fully raw vegan lifestyle.

I included subgroups into the challenge to cater for those who still wanted to incorporate meats and other proteins - their brief was to try at least one raw meal per day - whether that be a salad or raw vegetables.

The beautiful Kristina from Fully Raw also shared her new lifestyle with FFS readers and assisted us through the changes a fully raw diet may result in for us first time raw-ers! Read more here.

My wonderful friends at 180 Nutrition also contributed to this months giveaway, click here.

May
May was such an exciting month for me and Fitness, Food and Style. I was absolutely thrilled to be featured on the Move Nourish Believe blog "A day in the life of Dani Stevens"

It was also the month that saw the start of the #RichardBransonProject campaign - promoting and seeking support for the Vision Crusaders GRAND SLAM Ride To Conquer Cancer events. We challenge the man himself Sir Richard Branson to come ride with us. Read more here.

I also hosted a #ffsphotoaday challenge and there were some great shots captured and shared in social media land.

The beautiful birds at Birdnest and Stylerunner also gave some amazing giveaways for this comp!

June
An absolutely amazing milestone in my life and total jump-for-joy celebrations that in June, FFS had it's first anniversary/birthday!!! 2XU gave a $200 x-card voucher to one of my lucky FFS readers.

Can you believe it??? We are just over 1 year young!!!  Here's a recap on all the fun moments here.

Also the #richardbransonproject continued to build momentum and there was so much support from across the entire globe. You can read more here or come check out the retweet Danni Minogue did here. I love social media so much!

In June, I also collaborated with the amazing Grow Soul Beautiful team and we shared our #YogaADay challenge which I absolutely adored!!!

July
I was thrilled to be asked to feature in Lorna Jane's MOVE campaign so, in July, I headed to Brisbane and met some amazing women on the campaign photo shoot. More info here.

You'll be familiar with the Transformation Tuesday stories ... and in July, I shared the story of Robert. His transformation story was one of the true highlights of my year. This man inspired me to realize age is nothing but a number and it doesn't define you. Robert made a lifestyle change and at the ripe age of 57yrs hasn't felt better!!! You can read and be inspired by his story here.

We also did another no added sugar challenge combined with some squats and continued building upon our earlier work from previous months.

August
Two of my babies celebrated their birthdays this month. Noah turned 8 and Zali 2.

I made a point of experimenting with some healthier party food options and tried to remove a lot of the refined sugars food at their birthday parties. You can click on their hyperlinked names to check out the birthday party posts and see how there was much fun to be had without all of the sugary stuff.

I completed my first EVER Ride To Conquer Cancer in Brisbane (read here) and continued my #richardbransonproject. You should have seen me totally jump into the air when Sir Richard sent THIS  only 2 days before the team rode. He shared this on his blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, I was over the moon!

This month, there was a focus on hydration and I encouraged FFS readers to increase their water intake during a 31 day water challenge.

September
In September, I decided to adopt Freeletics - an AMAZING fitness program which takes participants on an intense body weight journey. No gym membership or equipment needed ... the only requirements are your body weight and a determination to see your end goal. See Levents transformation here and get your program here.

I also introduced the concept of Rave Reviews where FFS readers were able to receive and trial the products I get in turn for honest feedback and opinion which brands then utilize for their marketing research.

I'm looking forward to continuing with this in 2014, so be sure to follow the link and register your interest.

October
Such a busy month - I completed my second RTCC ride AND Mietta turned 4 with requests of a Unicorn party. She isn't a fan of traditional birthday cakes as such, so she challenges me! I had super fun experimenting with a watermelon cake! Yep, believe it and you can find more pics here.

A rockin' Rocktober challenge kicked off and I started on the 15 week Freeletics cardio program. Never too late to join in, and you can grab yours here.

November
WOWZA!!! November already???? How did that happen?? This month was totally cray-zay! BUSY!

From Oscars 6th birthday one minute ...

To sliding down the deepest, steepest and fastest waterside at sea and cruising across the Pacific Ocean to Vanuata the next!

Before I had chance to catch my breath,  I was flying all across Oz ... from Hamilton Island to Adelaide for my RTCC finale ride. Whoa!!!! My head is just spinning as I type this.

We also managed to squeeze in a mini 7 day #ffsplanks challenge, here's my Vision Crusaders team and I in Adelaide and in full form!

More information and reminiscing about these amazing times are just a hyperlinked click away :)

December
Winding up an amazing 2013 involved the famous #xmas25squats challenge.

The times got busy as we packed the family up for travelling North on a well-deserved family R&R break and celebrated Christmas on sandy beaches. Of course I'll be keeping you updated with snippets of our holiday adventures via Facebook and Instagram.

Phew!
So what were your highlights this year? What did you set out to achieve? How did you go ... even if you thought the impossible would never eventuate?

Remember to ALWAYS #dreambig and I'm looking forward to another exciting year with you all filled with much Fitness Food and Style!

Bring on 2014!
Just because I have to give you the heads up ... in 2014 there will be a NEW FFS website, more tools for you, interviews and products to share to keep you all fit, healthy and looking fabulous throughout the upcoming year.

Much love and friendship,
XxDani

PS:

I really do hope that you had a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones. In 2014, I wish you an abundance of good health, fun times and prosperity.

I truly can not wait to share another year's journey with you - my Fitness, Food and Style friends! At this opportunity, I'd like to thank YOU for being here with me along the way ... it's with your support and friendship that I'm living the dream and in 2014 I hope I can help you to live yours too!

With all the greens we pushed up in March what better way to continue this by eating fully raw!!!  Stand up and be RAWESOME was a very challenging month for me to say the least. I really had to increase my calories & fruits a lot more but didn't manage to eat enough, so I ate a 80/20 fully raw diet as my beautiful Kristina at Fully Raw coached us along the way.

This has been the best 12 months EVER! I thank every person that has contributed to making this such an awesome year! Even if you are not listed by name here, you are never forgotten as you are the reason why I am here. You mean so much to me and I look forward to more adventures in 2013 and beyond!

Which reminds me, have you a spare $5 you can dontate to my Ride To Conquer Cancer please? You will be making such a difference by contributing to this amazing cancer research benefiting the Rio Tinto Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
